Zen Master Seung Sahn said, ‘perceiving your voice means perceiving your true nature. Then you and the sound are never separate, which means that you and the whole universe are never separate.’ On that day, Bon Sun Sunim JDPS also quoted the enlightenment verse of Venerable Master Hsu Yun,
‘The cup fell to the ground, The sound rang out clear and distinct;
Space itself shattered to pieces, And the wild mind instantly came to rest.’
By practicing together to perceive the sounds of the universe, the teacher guided the fellow practitioners to experience and attain ‘inside and outside become one’.
